There are three new features, this includes Boomerang, mentions and links.
Boomerang isn't anything new, but Instagram have integrated this separate app into the stories and it allows you to create a Boomerang video. Simply swipe right and tap record, the camera will stitch together a burst of photos in a mini video that plays forward and backward. It's a fun little feature that users will definitely find handy as there's no longer the need to go backwards and forwards from apps.
The second feature is mentions, you can now mention up to 10 users in your Instagram story. Do this, and the tagged person will receive a notification that you've mentioned them.
Finally, a feature that Instagram are testing is links. This allows you to add a link to your story, however only verified accounts can add links right now. For example a brand may link out to a product that users can then click through to purchase. Good news for marketers, and quite surprising considering Instagrams usually-strict stance on links.
What do you think to these new features? We definitely think Instagram stories are giving a Snapchat a run for their money, but will it win the hearts of loyal Snapchatters?
